Experiences from people bringing more Shabbos into their lives.

“Because of this website and Rabbi Coleman's compassionate guidance, several weeks ago I made a commitment to forego gardening on Shabbos.

This past Shabbos I had the opportunity to honor that commitment—our wisteria was out of control and needed a trim. Before making a commitment on OneMelacha I would have grabbed my clipper and gotten right to work. Instead, I refrained from that work until Sunday.

My commitment may not seem like much, but it reminds me of Shabbos and mitzvas every time I look at my garden.”

“A wonderful creative idea. The classic work, Chovos HaLevovos (Duties of the Heart), writes that there is no action in ruchniyos (spirituality) so small that it is not cherished by Hashem. Chazal (the Rabbis) tell us, ‘mitzvah goreres mitzvah’—one mitzvah begets another mitzvah.”
